Marco Mazzarello — Founded in New York
Marco Mazzarello started a long time back. I, the founder, spent most of my adult life working at a Big 4 consulting firm, in the heart of the financial district. I had the life many dream of, but something was missing. After 8 years of hard work, showing up every single day, I finally had a lucky opportunity to leave my job with a very solid severance package. I did something I never thought I would — accepted the severance, left my job, and booked a one way ticket to Bali. That was 2 years ago, and that began the journey of Marco Mazzarello, the brand.
Travel allowed me to discover my unexpected love for fashion. I absolutely loved buying native clothes from the local markets of every country I visited. I was bored of the big brands I used to wear to work to impress clients — I wanted something unique, something you won't find on the shelf of a huge retailer. I found the fashion I was looking for in the flea markets of Greece, Vietnam, and other parts of the world.
Eventually, I started bringing pieces back for friends and family in New York, and everyone was obsessed. The consultant in me saw an opportunity — why not let this obsession fund my travels? I had no idea what a hit it would be.
Marco Mazzarello really started the day demand from friends and family exceeded my baggage limits by 4 or 5 times, and I finally decided to design some pieces myself.
I started this brand accidentally, in an attempt to subsidize my travels by bringing back things for the people I loved. Now I am learning the intricacies of design, contracting small production spaces, and figuring out how to bring these pieces to the entire country — all thanks to that severance check, which gave me wings to fly.
So, here is Marco Mazzarello. From my travels, to your wardrobe. I sincerely hope you love shopping with us.
